Hi I’m Belinda and last night I had a great time at Bourgee, the new restaurant at Timberhill Terrace on Level 4 of Castle Mall.
My husband Colin and I were invited to their launch evening and we really didn’t know what to expect. I can say we were very pleasantly surprised. It is advertised as a steak and lobster restaurant but it is so much more!
We were greeted with a glass of champagne and given a tour by Tatiana one of the waitresses, she was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions.
Downstairs is the main restaurant. It is set out with tables and small intimate booths. The decor is simple but sophisticated with subdued lighting and each table has a small spotlight.
As it was launch night there was a DJ, he played some good music, not too loud but with a good beat.
We were given canapes, lobster profiteroles with chives and cheese, steak and peppadews also lobster cappuccino with porcini mushrooms, all were lovely.
Upstairs is a well-stocked bar and has a more lively atmosphere. They serve tapas at a reasonable price and I can’t wait to try them.
The guests were a good mix of ages and everyone seemed to be enjoying the evening.
They also serve a great range of unusual cocktails i.e. Rhubarb and rose petal martinis!
We really enjoyed the evening and will be going back in the new year to try out the menu.
